The show, which opened last week, features works by 32 Maine artists, including Mark McCollough and his acrylic, “The Ghosts of Evergreen Cemetery.” The coyote has been revered by Native Americans for its ancient wisdom, spirituality and wily adaptability, and Maine is home to about 13,000 of the dog-like animal. In connection with the exhibition, UNE is sponsoring a series of coyote-themed educational events, including a children’s puppet show, “Coyote and the Boy, Ben,” on Sunday, Oct. 26, from 1-2 p.m. The gallery is on UNE’s Portland campus, 716 Stevens Ave.
