Nothing is quite what it seems in Robert Diamante’s new exhibit of photographs, “Still.” The collection of still-life and landscape images shows that “ordinary objects can transcend what we know about them,” the Maine artist recently said. “What appear as simple compositions are complex narratives.” While Diamante graduated from the Maine College of Art, he credits some of his artistic inspiration to an unusual source – master’s-degree studies he later completed in theology. The exhibit, including “Pumpkin,” opened last week and runs through August at Daunis Fine Jewelry, 616 Congress St., Portland.
