Freeport Community Library is hosting a free concert by plucked-string specialist Timothy Burris at 7 p.m. Aug. 18. Burris has performed widely in Europe and the U.S.; the most recent of his nine recordings includes his own transcription of J.S. Bach’s Ciaccona for solo violin. Lute instructor at the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Music in Antwerp from 1990-96, Burris is on the faculty of both the Portland Conservatory and Colby College.
