Master African drummer Jordan Messan Benissan will be performing at the Scarborough Public Library Friday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. The free concert is part of a series in partnership with the 2016 Conference theme, “The New Africa.” Benissan was born in Togo and is a member of the Ewe People. He was introduced to music at an early age through ceremonies and rituals. Benissan teaches music at Colby College and has performed traditional African drumming and Highlife music around the world.
