SOUTH PORTLAND – Arthur T. Stough, 59, died Sept. 18 at a local hospital.

On Jan. 5, 1950, he was born in Portland, and was educated in South Portland schools.

He worked at Barber Foods and Jordan Meats, and was most recently employed in the maintenance department at the University of Southern Maine.

For many years he volunteered as a fireman for Engine 1 in South Portland.

He was an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include his mother, Vilda Calderwood Flaherty of South Portland; sister, Jewell A. Stough Kopenga of Scarborough, and brother, Richard F. Flaherty Jr., of Portland; and nephews, Christopher A. Willette of South Portland and Joseph S. Locke of Scarborough.

Memorial services were held earlier this week.

Arrangements are by Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
