Colette Bouchard of the Bayside Neighborhood Association had the honor of officially opening the Bayside Trail on Aug. 19 at the Elm Street Plaza off Marginal Way. The $6.4 million project, funded by federal grants, city grants and privately raised money, was build on a neighborhood brownfield. Representatives from the city of Portland, the Bayside Neighborhood Association, Portland Trails, the Trust For Public Land and other citizens were on hand for the opening of the 1.2-mile trail, which will eventually connect the Eastern Promenade to Deering Oaks Park with a ribbon of greenway.
