SOUTH PORTLAND – Anne Marie Frederick, 93, died peacefully Oct. 12, at Gosnell Hospice House.

Frederick was born in1921 and raised on Turner’s Island, riding ice flows down the Fore River into the bay, rowing to the islands and playing basketball, perfecting her jump shot as captain of her South Portland High School team. After a short stint at Maine Central Railroad, Frederick put her heart and soul into raising her family.

The memories of her love, guidance, virtue and values will be cherished by her children, who stand in testament to the success and achievement she fostered.

Frederick was predeceased by her husband, Bud (Leon); two sisters, Martha and Sissy; and three brothers, Mickey, Bill, and George.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia; eight sons, Peter, Paul, John, David, Robert, Tom, Charles and James; 12 grandchildren, Aaron, Adam, Jane, Andrew, Megan, Emily, Audrey, Marina, Sam, Edie, Isabella, and Ethan; and six great-grandchildren, Etta, Delilah, Gabe, Gideon, Annika, and Attean.
