BATH — Anne J. Kane Black, 73, died March 10.

She was born in Portland on Nov. 19, 1938, the daughter of Martin J. and Barbara J. Kane. She grew up in Portland and attended Cathedral High School. She graduated in 1956.

In 1965, she married Phillip R. Black, who was in the U.S. Navy. The couple resided in many states before settling in Maine in 1988 when Phillip retired.

Black worked for several years at the National Art Education Association in Reston, Va., and later for Acorn Engineering in West Covina, Calif.

She is survived by her loving husband, Phillip Black of Bath; sons Bradford Black of California and Talbot Black and his wife, Jessica, of Virginia; sister Sally Bonnvie of Falmouth; brothers Marin Kane of Lakewood, Colo., Mark Kane of Old Orchard Beach and Robert Kane of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and her three grandchildren, Oliver, Fletcher and Desmond.

Visiting hours were held on March 15 at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on March 15 at the Lady of Hope, St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1342 Congress St., Portland.
