BRUNSWICK — Anna (Porco) Hathaway, 75, died March 25, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease at Hawthorne House, with her husband at her side.
Hathaway was born in Belmonte, Calabria, Italy, on Jan. 20, 1941, to Angela and Matteo Porco. She married Richard Hathaway Sept. 24, 1970, in Ohio. The couple moved to Rhode Island, then to Maine, where they lived for 43 years. Hathaway worked at HealthTex, Fancy Stitchers and LLBean before devoting herself to her family full time.
She enjoyed crocheting, watching soap operas, walking, gardening and held a special place in her heart for “The King,” Elvis Presley. Most of all, Hathaway enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered as a selfless, caring, strong and loving wife, sister, mother, grandmall, nana and friend who was a gentle soul and always put her family first.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Nancy Bruno and Mary Porco, and two brothers, Dominic and Nunziato Porco.
She is survived by two brothers, Ernesto and Frank Porco; her children, Anna Rose (McManues) Young, Richard Hathaway II and Jenni Hathaway; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Young) Wienckowski, Michelle (Young) Keleher, Angela Young and Cameron, Anthony and Christian Hathaway; and seven great-grandchildren, Courtney, Taylor and Hayden Wienckowski and Tarynn, Sidney, Evan and Elliot Keleher.
Interment to be held at Burr Cemetery in Freeport, at a later date.
