HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT — Ann Mickiewicz Sweeney, 52, of Columbia, Connecticut, died April 15 after a brief illness.

She was born in Portland to John and Carolyn Mickiewicz on Feb. 25, 1963, and graduated from South Portland High School in 1981.

Sweeney worked for years as a civil-service employee of the U.S. government in Guam, New Mexico, Colorado and Connecticut.

Outside of work, she pursued her natural artistic talent, creating paintings, jewelry and crafts. While living in Hawaii, she also enjoyed taking multicultural cooking classes and trying out new new dishes with her family.

Sweeney was predeceased by her father, John Mickiewicz.

She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Mickiewicz; her husband, Henry Sweeney; her children, Amanda and husband, Jeff Golomboski, and Matthew Moschetto, with their father, James Moschetto; her stepchildren, Melanie and Patrick; her siblings, Pamela and husband, Milton Guerrette, Joseph and wife, Suzanne, Nancy and husband, Robert Jones, John and wife, Mary, and James and wife, Kimberly; her grandchildren, Olivia, Nora and Parker Golomboski; and several nieces and nephews.

A private Christian service was scheduled to be held on April 21 in Vernon, Connecticut.
