BATH — Angela M. Black, 39, of Washington Street passed away Aug. 16 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

She was born in Augusta on Sept. 19, 1972, a daughter of Kendall M. Black and Esther M. Trask.

She attended Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School, class of 1991. She later studied at Southern New Hampshire University, where she received a bachelor of science degree in 2004. She then continued on to receive a master’s degree in business administration in 2006. She was employed at Bath Iron Works as an estimating analyst.  

Black was a five-year cancer survivor who was always helping others through fundraising for The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing. Angela’s motto was “hope, faith and believe.”

Black was an active member with the Young Survival Coalition, Young BC Mets and BCMets.org.

Black enjoyed traveling, boating, music and spending time with family, friends and her beloved dogs, Gage and Mia. She lived life to the fullest, no matter what the obstacle.

Black is survived by her son, Matthew Holcombe, and his companion, Kayleigh Fortin, of Bath; brother David Wienckowski and his wife, Jennifer, of Bowdoin; brother Kendall Black, of Bath; her sister, Heather Page, of Bath; her mother, Bunni McLaughlin, of Bath; and several nieces and nephews.

A service was held Aug. 26 at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. Memorial contributions may be made to The Dempsey Challenge, Team Angela, c/o Matthew Holcombe, 50 Washington St., Bath, ME 04530.
