BRUNSWICK — Police are looking for a man who entered Amato’s at 148 Pleasant St. around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, and robbed the clerk at gunpoint.

According to police, the subject, described as a white male between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall, approached the sales counter, produced a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money.

The suspect also produced a shopping bag, tapped the handgun on the counter, and held the clerk at gunpoint while she filled the bag with an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.

The subject’s face was partially covered with a scarf, police said, and he was wearing what appeared to be black, disposable “examination type” gloves. He also wore dark-colored gray or black jeans, sneakers with white soles, a black hooded sweatshirt and a black or dark grey zippered windbreaker.

The man fled on foot and headed west on Pleasant Street. A Freeport Police Department K-9 was brought to the scene, but could not locate the suspect.
