BATH – Althea P. Gessner, 91, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Winship Green Nursing Center.  

Born on June 12, 1919, she was the youngest of eight children of George and Grace (Lane) Wallace and attended Morse High School.
 
On Oct. 12, 1940, she married Edward Gessner in Bath, where they lived and raised their son.

For many years she worked at Health-Tex until retiring in 1982.  

Her greatest love was her family.

In her spare time she enjoyed making quilts, sewing and painting.  
 
She was predeceased by her loving husband Edward on Aug. 11, 2009.

Surviving are her son, Herbert M. and his wife Yolanda Gessner of Bath; three grandsons, Mark Gessner of Warren, Andrew Gessner of Florida and Luke Gessner of Bath, and a granddaughter, Kimberly DeLong of Windham; two great-grandchildren, Kara Curry of Washington and Ian Gessner of Florida; and one great-great-grandson, Quinten Curry; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held earlier this week.

Arrangements are by David E. Desmond Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath.
