Manned by Oliver Terilli, left, Emily Damon and Elsie Parrot, the Breakwater School boat goes into the water at East End Beach in Portland on Sunday for its maiden voyage at the conclusion of the eighth annual Compass Project Boat Building Festival. Fourteen teams spent Friday and Saturday under a big tent at Back Cove, sawing, sanding, drilling and gluing together 12-foot Bevins skiffs, all to raise money to support the hands-on boat-building project for at-risk young people, run by Spurwink Services.
