PORTLAND — U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will be in the city Thursday morning to deliver a speech on USDA efforts to improve childhood nutrition and prevent obesity, according to a press release.
Vilsack will speak to officials from Maine Medical Center’s Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at 10:30 a.m., at MMC’s Dana Hall, 22 Bramhall St.
At 1:30 p.m., he will visit the U.S Coast Guard Station at 259 High St., South Portland. There he will talk about the importance of nutrition in maintaining the readiness of U.S. armed forces.
