CAPE ELIZABETH — Delaney Ratner, 20, and her 7-year-old border collie, Kelso, won the first Masters Agility Championship on Feb. 8 at the 138th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Pier 94 in New York City.
Kelso finished the competition, a timed race through an obstacle course, in 28.44 seconds. The dog previously won a national championship in 2012.
Ratner, a sophomore economics student at the University of Massachusetts, grew up in Cape Elizabeth. Her mother, Cindy, who teaches dog agility, also ran dogs at the Masters Agility Championship.
Jonesy, a miniature schnauzer and another one of the Ratners’ dogs, finished first in his height class with a time of 30 seconds.
