PORTLAND — African culture and food will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 20, at Sacred Heart/St. Dominic Church, 65 Mellen St.

Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland spokesman Dave Guthro said in a press release the 5-9 p.m. festival will include traditional dishes from Burundi, Rwanda and South Sudan; dancers and drummers from Burundi, and a performance by Les Voix des Anges, a choir of 30 men and women from central African nations sings in four different languages.

Proceeds from the festival will fund the Sacred Heart/St. Dominic Capital Campaign to make repairs to the church. About $150,000 of the $200,000 goal has been raised, Guthro said.

Advance tickets are $8 for adults and $4 after Masses at the church. Admission on the day of the festival is $10 for adults and $4 for children. Fore more festival information, visit portlandcatholic.org.
