If you’re like me, you are frugal and support your community. You may have received the library’s letter explaining how new tariffs and other macroeconomic factors and soil assessments led to needing an additional $500K to complete the library’s renovation. I was personally so confused and surprised that I asked for a meeting with the library leaders. They walked me through the new blueprints and budget line items that have been cut, and described their assessments of alternatives (shuttering half the building, delaying, relocating, cutting essential services.) I asked pointed questions as a taxpayer and 1718 Society donor, and I can now say confidently that I agree with this final fundraising step (any further cuts would be a disservice to our community, and alternatives could cost just as much). So please join me in voting yes on Question 1 and consider making another donation.
