800 runners expected in Cape Elizabeth race

CAPE ELIZABETH — The 30th Mid-Winter Classic 10-mile road race will take place Sunday, Feb. 6, starting at Cape Elizabeth High School.

About 800 runners will participate in the race that loops along Scott Dyer Road,  Spurwink Avenue, Eastman Road, Sawyer Road, Route 77, Bowery Beach Road and Ocean House Road. The race starts at 9:45 a.m.

Route 77 will be closed from 9:40 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. from Shore Road to the entrance of the high school; Scott Dyer Road will be closed from 9:40 a.m. to 10 a.m. from Route 77 to Spurwink Ave; and Spurwink Ave. will be closed from 9:50 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. from Scott Dyer Road to Eastman Road.

Race cancellation in case of inclement weather will be announced at mainetrackclub.com.

Pre-registered runners may pick up their bibs and shirt at the Maine Running Co., 563 Forest Ave., Portland, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Packets can also be picked up at the high school on Sunday from 8:15 a.m to 9:30 a.m.
