SOUTH PORTLAND — Three suspects, including two 17-year-old boys, face armed robbery charges after allegedly stealing purses and personal items at gunpoint from two girls Saturday evening, Nov. 30.

Police Sgt. Steve Webster said Samnang Im, 18, also known as Junior Sok, and the juveniles, considered transients by police, were arrested Sunday and Monday.

The robbery occurred around 6 p.m. in the Brickhill section of the city off Westbrook Street. Im was arrested in Westbrook on Methodist Road around 2 p.m. Monday. The boys were arrested at about 9 a.m. Sunday at 17 Newbury St. in Auburn, Webster said.

One of the suspects was known to the victims, Webster said, and the investigation led to the execution of four search warrants on homes, a vehicle and cellphones. Im also faces a Class A robbery charge reported to police in Westbrook Nov. 28.

Webster said the boys were taken to the Longcreek Youth Development Center in the city and were scheduled to appear in the Cumberland County Unified Criminal Docket in Portland on Monday. Im was taken to Cumberland County Jail, where he was being held Tuesday without bail for violating conditions of release.

The investigation also resulted in Westbrook resident Devon Grant, 18, being charged with trafficking in dangerous knives. He was not charged in the alleged robbery.
