PORTLAND — Police are looking for three men in connection with a Sunday afternoon home invasion, assault and robbery on Auburn Street that left the victim with head injuries.

Portland Police Lt. James Sweatt said the victim was sleeping in his apartment at 238 Auburn St. when he woke up to find the men in his bedroom around 2:40 p.m. The men, described as in their 20s, were wearing black ski masks and dark clothing. The victim reported he was assaulted by the suspects before they took an undisclosed amount of cash.

Sweatt declined to identify the victim, who was treated at Maine Medical Center, because of the violent nature of the alleged incident.

Each suspect was described as being between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing around 250 pounds.

A Falmouth Police Department K9 unit assisted in the investigation, but had little success tracking the suspects. Sweatt said it is possible the men fled in a dark sedan, with a license plate of 4568 TD.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 874-8575 or 874-8584, or to text GOTCHA and the information to 274637.
