AUGUSTA — Three Portland-area residents were nominated by Gov. John Baldacci this week to serve on the boards of trustees for the University of Maine and Maine Community College systems.

Portland resident Victoria Murphy was nominated to the University of Maine System Board of Trustees. Murphy is co-owner of Portland-based Pan Atlantic Consultants and has already served one term as a trustee.

Freeport resident Dennis King and Cumberland Foreside resident Christopher McCormick were nominated to the Maine Community College System Board of Trustees.

King has been a community college trustee since 2003 and is chief executive officer of Spring Harbor Hospital in Westbrook.

McCormick is the president and chief executive officer of L.L. Bean in Freeport.

Baldacci’s nominations must reviewed by the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural affairs, and confirmed by the state Senate.
