BRUNSWICK — Three Republican candidates for the Legislature have dropped out of their races.

As of July 20, no new candidates had been nominated by the party to fill the Nov. 8 general election ballot vacancies. 

Eric Lusk, of Harpswell, who won the GOP primary in state Senate District 24; Robert Thompson, of Brunswick, who won the primary in state House District 50, and Jeffrey Slocum, who won the primary in House District 51, have all withdrawn their candidacies, according to the Maine Bureau of Corporations, Elections & Commissions.

The filing deadline for replacement candidates is Monday, July 25, at 5 p.m.

The Democratic Party candidates in the three contests are Everett “Brownie” Carson of Harpswell in Senate District 24, incumbent Rep. Ralph Tucker of Brunswick in House District 50, and incumbent Rep. Joyce McCreight of Harpswell in House District 51.
