Injuries occurred Friday in Freeport when a collision left a van and its trailer on top of car in a ditch along northbound Interstate 295 at about Mile 26. Officials said the van from Quebec was cut off by the car, causing both drivers to lose control and head off the side of the highway. A man in the car had to be extricated by Freeport rescue workers. He was hospitalized with what officials said were non-life-threatening injuries. Three people in the van received minor injuries.

Freeport firefighters and rescue personal carry the injured driver to an ambulance.
