PORTLAND — Casco Bay High School and King Middle School are two of 14 schools across the country to be certified by a national nonprofit focused on raising student achievement.

New York-based EL Education designated the two schools as “credentialed” based on meeting certain the organization’s benchmarks.

According to a School Department press release, EL Education’s benchmarks include measurements around character development and quality of student work, in addition to test results.

The 14 schools around the country join nine other schools that received the designation last year.
