PORTLAND — Two men charged with Class A arson for a string of trash can and dumpster fires on March 22 and 23 were indicted Friday by a Cumberland County grand jury.
Aaron Hornbeck-Fielder, 18, of Windham, was indicted on one count of arson and a count of violating conditions of release. Robert Johnson, 19, whose address was not listed, was indicted on four counts of arson.
Indictments are not findings of guilt. They are a determination enough evidence exists to try a case.
Johnson was arrested by Portland police March 23 around 9 p.m. and initially charged with lighting a fire at the rear of the Portland Museum of Art. The fire was the last of eight reported that weekend throughout the city’s peninsula.
Hornbeck-Fielder was charged with setting a fire outside 121 Center St. He was arrested March 30 by city police.
Punishment for conviction of a Class A crime carries a maximum 30-year prison sentence.
