SOUTH PORTLAND — Two men were arrested Thursday after an altercation late Wednesday night that injured two South Portland men.
Police charged Essa Sayed, 18, of Portland, and Zachary Swain, 18, of Cape Elizabeth, with aggravated assault and attempted murder in connection with an alleged drug dispute where an 18-year-old man was stabbed and a 19-year-old man was shot, Lt. Frank Clark said in a press release.
The incident took place around 10:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the Wainwright Recreation Complex, off Gary Maietta Parkway. The suspects and victims met to complete a drug deal involving a small amount of marijuana, according to Clark.
The 18-year-old victim remains hospitalized, while the 19-year-old was treated and released. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected, Clark said.
