BRUNSWICK — Police arrested two suspects accused of robbing the Big Apple convenience store on Pleasant Street with a handgun Dec. 16.

Jacqueline Carpenter-Young, 21, and Shawn Cook, 37, were both charged with robbery after police responded to a call at 9:07 p.m. from the store clerk.

After reviewing surveillance footage, officers were able to identify Carpenter-Young’s vehicle, a Ford Taurus with Massachusetts plates, and trace it to Dunlap Street, where she was arrested.

Cook, who allegedly drove the car, was arrested at the same location. He had already been arrested earlier in the day in Freeport by Officer Paul Chenevert on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.

Police said they recovered the vehicle, the gun and an undisclosed amount of cash. Both suspects were held at Cumberland County Jail in Portland on $10,000 cash bail.
