FREEPORT — The Freeport Historical Society’s fall exhibit, “Lessons from the Tam O’Shanter,” will open Thursday, Oct. 24, with a reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The painting of the Tam O’Shanter, the 19th century ship built in the Soule shipyard in South Freeport, is the center of the exhibit. The items on display will feature donated items such as a ship’s logbook describing the events of an unsuccessful mutiny, maps, business documents, a sea chest and photos. There will also be never-before displayed women’s clothing, and swords used in the attempted mutiny.
The public can view the exhibit every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Nov. 20 at the Harrington House, 45 Main St.
