WASHINGTON, D.C. — Eleven libraries in Cumberland County are among 17 in the state to receive national recognition.

U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine, announced on April 9 that the libraries – including those at Portland’s Reiche, Lyseth and Clifford elementary schools; Cumberland’s Greely High School; Freeport Middle School and Harpswell Island School – each received a “We the People Bookshelf Award” from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Each library will receive 17 books for readers of all ages.
